Dear Debra,
Firstly I would lke to say that I am very sorry that you have had such a bad experience. Abuse is terrible and affects all who surround it. William clearly had a problem and I m very happy that he has resolved his issues. I would like to say that it is high time that we had a sensible solution to the problem we have with cannabis in this country. Abuse is very distructive to the person abusing, their family and even the community. Abuse comes in many forms from tabbaco and the cost on the NHS from smoking related illness. From alcohol and the distruction it causes and the lives it ruins. From sex addicts who cheat on their wives and famillies. The point is abuse is bad. The point is not everyone abuses. The vast majority of people have pretty good self control and can moderate that drink, spliff and don’t go around cheating on their loved ones. The point is the laws and policy we have in this country towards cannabis is out dated and in desperate need of reform. Why is it that something that is sensibly enjoyed by millions of people across this fine country everyday is still against the law? It is a shame that so many people are crimalised and so many real criminals profit from proabition. Ruthless criminals with no regard for the people and only regard for lining their own filthy pockets. Why is it that the goverment fired their own chief advisor for giving his honest educated opinion on the matter? Baffling. I really am sorry for your sorrow and can relate as my father has struggled with alcoholismn for the past fifteen years. A good man turned bad by drink? I think thats open to debate. Each case on its own merits. What about the medicinal use? I have a friend who was fighting cancer and due to his treatment lost his appitite and found it increasingly hard to sleep. The treatment cause nausure so any tablet form medication was no good for him. He took a small dose of cannabis and found it gave him the oppertunity to both eat and get some valuable sleep. He says to this day that it contributed to his recovery. Vauable medicine. I am truely sorry for you and your family and I do not want you to think in any way that I do not recognise the situation you all found youselves in. It was tragic and I really am sorry. I would say that your experience is a minority and very extreem and in my experience you only hear about the horror sories on this subject. You dont hear about the everyday moderate users doing something they enjoy doing as they fear getting busted, losing their jobs etc. Proabition incourages deception and forces problems people may have underground and away from help. As they say Knowlage is power and ignorance is bliss. Its a fine line.
Kind regards,
O
